About Modern Classics - the Great Cars of the Postwar Era

  • Used book, only one copy available.

  • Author: Rich Taylor

  • Publication: New York : Scribner, ©1978.

  • 364 pages

  • ISBN: 0684155257, 9780684155258

  • A guide to eighty of the best cars from the postwar era, including the Kurtis, Crosley, Frazer Nash, Bentley Continental, and Delahaye. The period after World War II saw great change in the automotive world. Some brands thrived, others struggled. One example was the famous French manufacturer Delahaye. Like other French luxury car makers, it struggled under the depressed economy and high taxes on expensive vehicles. Delahaye resumed production of the 135 MS which had began in 1939. This model kept many of the great French coachbuilders such as Figoni et Falaschi, Chapron, Saoutchik and Franay in business. Delahaye continued to struggle and went out of business in 1954 but left behind some of the most beautiful road and race cars ever built.
